ESDT Submission Permissions

How Pathwave determines who can submit photos to Ericsson Site Digital Twin.

Overview

Pathwave controls ESDT submission using two permission layers:

  1. Company-Level Permissions
(Which company in the delivery chain is allowed to submit)
  2. User Role Permissions
(Which Pathwave system roles within that company are allowed to submit)

Both settings impact whether a user sees the Send Photos to ESDT button.

This article explains how both permission layers work and how they can be adjusted.

1. Company-Level Permissions

Default Behavior

By default, only the company that owns the job (the company that created the job in Pathwave) can submit photos to ESDT. Other companies in the delivery chain—including subcontractors—cannot submit unless this permission is explicitly enabled for them.

This prevents subcontractors from submitting photos on behalf of the Job Owner unless specifically granted access.

Allowing Subcontractors to Submit (Optional)

If a supplier wants subcontractors to submit photos directly:

Once enabled:

  • Subcontractors assigned to the job
  • With the appropriate Pathwave system role
  • Will see the Send Photos to ESDT option

If this setting is not enabled, subcontractors will never see the ESDT tab, even if the job is configured correctly.

2. User Role Permissions

Default Behavior

Pathwave restricts ESDT submission to higher-level system roles.

By default, the minimum role required is: Partner Manager or Above

This includes:

  • Partner Manager
  • Partner Administrator

Users below Partner Manager (e.g., Foreman, Field Crew) do not see the ESDT option by default.

Configurable Minimum Role

The minimum system role required to submit photos can be changed if needed.

Examples of customization:

  • Allow Foreman to submit
  • Restrict submission to Partner Administrator only

These updates are made by the partner’s Customer Success Team.

3. Permission Summary

Permission Type Default Setting Optional Setting Managed By
Which company can submit Job Owner only Job Owner + Subcontractors Pathwave CSM
Minimum user role Partner Manager+ Can be lowered or raised Pathwave CSM

4. When Permissions Prevent ESDT from Appearing

Even when a job is set up correctly, the ESDT icon will not appear if:

  • The user is not part of the Job Owner’s company, and subcontractor permissions are not enabled
  • The user’s system role is below the minimum role required to submit
  • The user’s partner requested restricted submission access

Tip: To resolve permission-related issues, partners should contact Customer Success Team.
